Del Sol Mexican Restaurant - Dillon
About This Spot
Nestled just a few minutes south of the familiar bustle at the South of the Border attraction, Del Sol Mexican Restaurant sits quietly along U.S. Hwy 301, offering an unpretentious refuge where the focus is on hearty flavors and familiar comforts. The moment you step inside, the pace softens into a calm, welcoming rhythm—a contrast to the highway hum outside. It’s the kind of spot where friendly exchanges happen over warm plates, and the atmosphere invites both brief stops and lingering conversations.
Del Sol carries the spirit of a casual local eatery, where the everyday meets genuine care. There’s an honest simplicity to the setting that feels unpolished yet sincere, reminding you that this is a place shaped more by community and good food than by design. The staff’s attentiveness quietly supports the experience, creating a space where you can settle back without fuss but never feel forgotten.
On the table, the flavors tell stories of home-style Mexican cooking with a touch of local interpretation. Dishes arrive fresh and generous, designed as much for sharing as for savoring alone—the kind of meals that comfort and satisfy without ceremony. The familiar accompaniments, like freshly made tortillas and classic guacamole, provide grounding notes, while mains like sizzling fajitas or layered dips introduce friendly surprises in texture and warmth. Whether you’re enjoying a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner, there’s a cadence here that feels just right for the kind of easy-going nourishment you want after hours on the road or a casual weekday meal.
While the building itself shows its wear, it’s clear from how diners return and engage that Del Sol holds a quiet place in local hearts. It's a reminder that sometimes the best discoveries aren’t shiny or loud but come from honest kitchens where the food, atmosphere, and human connections make their own kind of lasting impression.

Outstanding restaurant! I stopped along a trip and wasn’t expecting much but I was blown away by the overall quality of the restaurant. The food was great, but the menu is a bit differently formatted than most restaurants and may be confusing. The service was great, we had people checking in on us at a great rate.

We ordered 3 steak tacos, 3 chicken tacos and a beef burrito. All came with rice and beans. We were happy with our selections and even the warm chips and 2 flavors of dip. The servers and wait staff were all very friendly and professional.

If you ever stop at "South of the Border" attraction, drive south, from there, another 3 minutes into the small town of Dillon, SC. It's worth it. Food is fresh, plentiful and a very reasonable price. As of September/2025, you can still get a full plate for less than $15. Service was fast and Food was good.

Place is gross looking but food is amazing. If I wasn’t randomly traveling thru I would be back. Lol. Just needs a deep clean.

I really love this place. The atmosphere is calm, the staff is awesome, and the food is pretty darn good from my limited experience. The al pastor is a little different than what I'm used to, but that's not a bad thing at all. It's got a bold flavor that's still delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed the tacos. The rice and beans are pretty standard, but again, this is not a bad thing. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes here soon. Thank you, Del Sol staff and owner!
